Sludge removal

Our sludge removal pumping solutions help wastewater treatment plants efficiently pump viscous sludge from treated water that is eventually released to streams and rivers. The EMS ram pump can generate a suction lift of almost 9 metres allowing very viscous sludge to be drawn from primary settlement tanks (in excess of 10% dry solids). At such viscosity the water content of the sludge is reduced and the solids content is increased, resulting in a much more efficient asset, reducing the electrical power consumption, reducing wear & tear and reducing the volume load placed upon other downstream processes.

An EMS ram pump is ideal because:

  • Self-priming. Delivery head up to 250 metres
  • Massive static suction lift approaching 9 metres
  • Mechanical drive with optional inverter control
  • Locate at ground level, no dry well required
  • No loss of suction power with age, = NPSH calculation does not apply
  • Frequently seen drawing 10% DS sludge
  • Slow moving, robust design, lifespan measured in decades
  • Tolerant of rags & solids
  • Large chokes cleared in minutes

EMS sludge ram pumps are manufactured and built in the UK with functionality and longevity being at the top of the list. The pumps succeed where others fail due to the massive static suction they generate, the ability to pump very thick sludge and their tolerance of rags & other solids. With well over 1,000 pumps in the UK alone these pumps have replaced a multitude of alternative products and are the preferred choice for difficult, arduous, continuous operation where maintenance resource is scarce
